Cancer Patient and Family/Caregiver Support Groups
Our groups provide a safe atmosphere where you can learn positive ways to cope with the personal consequences of your disease. We emphasize informality, openness, confidentiality, respect and humor. New members may join at any time. The groups are facilitated by health care professionals who specialize in counseling cancer patients/caregivers. Patients meet in Sutter Resource Library, 6th Floor, Family Members/Caregivers meet in Suite 430, 4th Floor.
In the group sessions we:
- Exchange information, provide support, discover and express our feelings
- Learn valuable skills including meditation, deep relaxation, pain control, stress management and assertiveness
- Appreciate the effect our cancer has on our families and learn how to ease everyone's path
- Examine our life patterns and sometimes risk changing unhelpful ones
There is no charge for attending the group. Donations to the Sutter Cancer Center are always welcome. Other cancer support groups meet at the Sutter Cancer Center.
