Donald's Story
Donald came from a family of large people. At 6’5” and a top weight of 325, he was considered to be medium sized in his family. His weight was beginning to cause health problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and heart problems resulting in having double bypass surgery when he was 45. He was on 9 prescription medications plus a sleep apnea machine when he realized that the diet and exercise programs he had been trying weren’t going to work. He was a walking time bomb and trapped inside a body which would fail him before his mind did.
After researching his options, Donald knew his solution would have to include weight loss surgery to have any lasting effect. So in September 2008, he had a gastric bypass and has lost 109 pounds in 9 months. He no longer uses his sleep apnea machine and is down to 2 heart-surgery related medications.
Donald now spends 6 days per week in the gym and is able to run and do many activities he couldn’t do before. Today he has hope for living a long life with his wife and will have the privilege of seeing his young grandchildren grow up.
