Myrna's Story
Myrna was a normal weight until she had her first child at 22, and she continued to gain after having two more children in her early 30s. Determined to do something about her weight, she tried all kinds of diets, but none of them worked. When she reached 380 pounds, took 14 medications daily for her high blood pressure, asthma and diabetes and experienced extreme knee and foot pain, she knew it was time to take serious measures to lose weight and keep it off.
So on June 12, 2007, Myrna had gastric bypass surgery and has since lost 178 pounds. She went from a size 32 pants to size 8 and is down to just two medications. Her knees and feet don’t hurt anymore and she loves wearing high heels.
"I can do all kinds of things now," exclaims Myrna, "including walking long distances, going to the gym, and playing with my grandkids. Best of all, I have returned to school and plan to get my law degree. I have a whole new look on life because now I have the freedom to do whatever I want."
