Markstein Cancer Education and Prevention Services is committed to providing the public with the information needed to understand the role that self-examination, early detection and adoption of risk-reducing lifestyle habits play in both preventing and treating cancer.
We provide outreach education, free community cancer screenings and offer support and educational tools to those impacted by a diagnosis of cancer.
Anyone (men, women, family members, and friends) affected by cancer and seeking support may attend our free support groups or learn about our cancer resources. We provide education material as well as computer access for in-depth research and welcomes any community member to drop in for assistance or personal study.
Individualized meetings can be scheduled to assist in both sorting out treatment decision options and organizing thoughts and concerns regarding treatment decisions to be better prepared to meet with your physician. We can also arrange for you to speak with other cancer survivors with similar issues or experiences.
Clinical Breast Exam
To make an appointment for a clinical breast exam that can also be scheduled back to back with your mammogram at the Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center, please call us at (510) 869-8833. At your appointment, a breast health nurse specialist will also teach you examination techniques so that you can become familiar with the outline of your own breasts' personal structure. After your clinical breast exam, the nurse will walk you immediately next door to the gowned waiting room of the Carol Ann ready Breast Health Center for your mammogram.
For more information you may call us at (510) 869-8833, email us at Markstein@sutterhealth.org, or use the links on the left to learn more about our services.
