Markstein Cancer Education and Prevention Services

    Our Mission

Markstein Cancer Education and Prevention Services is dedicated to decreasing the incidence of cancer through early detection and outreach education as well as supporting those touched by cancer.

Markstein Services provides the community with information needed to understand the role that self-examination, early detection and adoption of risk-reducing lifestyle habits play in both preventing and treating cancer.

Free outreach education, free community cancer screenings and the offer of support and educational tools are available to all in the community impacted by a diagnosis of cancer.

    Our History

Markstein Services was founded in 1974 and was initially funded through a Center for Disease Control Pilot Program to educate the community about cancer risk reduction and prevention practices.

The mission to educate the community has been carried out by providing annually over 4,000 state and endowment funded exams and educational interventions including case management for women enrolling in the State Cancer Detection Program, clinical breast exams, as well as community skin prostate and colorectal screenings.

Markstein Services is the only Northern California location that offers multiple types of cancer screenings. Educational lectures offered by the Markstein Center annually reach over 1000 community members.

    Our Clients

Anyone (men, women, family members, and friends) affected by cancer and seeking support may attend our free support groups or learn about our cancer resources.

We provide education material as well as computer access for in-depth research and welcome any community member to drop in for assistance or personal study.

Additionally we provide references to those attending our groups who are looking for a physician.

We can also arrange for you to speak with other cancer survivors with similar issues or experiences.

Markstein Cancer Education and Prevention Services hosts free events for the community on various topics to promote a healthy mind, body and spirit.
