The Alta Bates In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Program provides clinical care to couples and women in a warm, comfortable, and supportive community hospital setting. Established in 1984 and directed by Richard Chetkowski, MD, the assisted reproduction program has helped the parents of more than 1,000 children to realize the dream of giving birth.
Every patient receives personalized care from one of the ABIVF physicians using such state-of-the-art infertility procedures as Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and Microsurgical Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (MESA) for male factor infertility.
In addition, the IVF program offers donor egg treatments to women whose ovaries do not function normally, or who desire conception beyond the usual childbearing age. Embryo freezing constitutes an important part of many treatment cycles, reducing the likelihood of high-order multiple pregnancies.
Many of our patients who have complex infertility factors or have failed treatments elsewhere, benefit from the individualized care and attention they receive in our program. Upon achieving an ongoing pregnancy, patients return to their referring obstetricians for prenatal care.
Alta Bates IVF Program maintains an extensive website, providing you with current information about the programs and its achievements for prospective patients and physician referral.
