Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program
We Help You Deal with Shortness of Breath
You don’t have to be afraid when you become short of breath…you can learn how to turn that fear and anxiety into a positive response that will enable you to continue the lifestyle to which you are accustomed.
Program Components
Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a comprehensive program which includes exercise and the opportunity to share experiences with others who have intermittent or continuous symptoms of COPD – Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, fibrosis).
Our program has been offered for over 25 years and has been nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
The group program runs over an eight week period, meeting twice weekly for two hour periods. We encourage family members or significant others to join us in the educational sessions.
At the completion of the program, an exercise maintenance program is offered to allow participants to continue their exercise in a group setting.
What You Will Learn
As a participant, you learn relaxation techniques, the role medications play, proper nutrition, proper breathing techniques, how to reduce stress and when to seek medical care. During this time, you work closely with a team of pulmonary rehabilitation specialists to improve your overall exercise tolerance and increase your independence.
We help you reach these goals by teaching you how to:
- Improve your exercise tolerance
- Increase your knowledge of your lung disease
- Learn ways to better care for yourself and deal with shortness of breath
- Maximize your level of functioning
How to Register
In order to enroll in the program, we’ll need the approval of your private physician and records indicating the presence of lung disease. For your convenience, we will be happy to contact your physician for you.
A personal interview prior to the first session will be scheduled in order to tailor the program to your individual needs.
We’d be happy to answer your questions or arrange for you to visit and see how our program operates and its many benefits.
