According to the National Cancer Institute, in the United States colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in men and women. In 2009 colorectal cancer accounted for over 146,000 newly diagnosed cases. Unfortunately, colorectal cancer is also the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related deaths in both men and women. However, over the last 20 years there has been a significant decline in colorectal cancer deaths.
