Dr. Patrick Swift: The Alta Bates Summit Comprehensive Cancer Center has been focusing very heavily on technological developments that allow us to deliver higher doses of radiation more safely and at the same time reducing the dose of radiation that normal structures get exposed to.
Interviewer: Alta Bates Summit advancements are paying off.
Dr. Swift: We can get a higher dose of radiation into the tumor more safely. We're also advancing through the integration of advanced diagnostic imaging and we're advancing through the use of combinations of radiation with new and novel biological modifiers so that we can have a better cell kill with the use of the two agents than we could ever hope to attain with one or the other.
