    Health Access Program

    The Alta Bates Summit Health Access program is a community referral source for health related information. We provide monthly free or low cost presentations and screenings as well as information and referrals to other programs throughout the East Bay Area.

    Membership is free and available to anyone by application. For more information or to request an application, please call (510) 869-6737.

    Members receive a discount in the Medical Center's cafeterias and the Alta Bates, Summit and Herrick gift shops.

    Peralta and Milvia Outpatient Pharmacies offer free medication delivery for Health Access members. Members can also call the Peralta medication information line and have questions about their medications answered by a pharmacist.

    Health Access members also receive free installation of the Lifeline Emergency Response Service equipment.

    Membership in the Alta Bates Summit Independent Gym is only $50 for three months for Health Access members. The gym is located at 5700 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland and is open Monday through Friday. Lockers and showers are available. Call (510) 204-1788 for more information.

    Introduction to Qigong

    Qigong (pronounced "chee gong") is a centuries-old Chinese health exercise practice that promotes healing, strength, flexibility, balance and longevity. It is safe for people of all ages and physical conditions. Maureen Berndt, Qigong teacher, Wellness Consultant and Acupressure Practitioner, will give an introduction to this ancient practice.

    Peralta Pharmacy Medication Information Line

    Call the Peralta Pharmacy with questions about the proper use of your medication, medication side effects or drug interactions. Since our pharmacists would like to give your question their full attention, they created a system that allows you to call in the evening and leave a message, and a pharmacist will return your call on the next business day.

    Call (510) 869-8835 from 5:30pm to midnight. Leave your name, a telephone number where you can be reached during the day, and a brief description of your concerns. A pharmacist will return your call on the next business day. (Monday through Friday excluding holidays). Please note that this is not an emergency service.

    Lifeline Service

    Lifeline Emergency Response Service is a 24-hour, in home emergency response service that is connected through your telephone to a Lifeline operator who can provide you with emergency assistance. The service is designed for people who live alone, want to maintain a link to medical assistance, are new mothers, are disabled or want peace of mind in knowing that someone will check on them regularly.

    Health Access members receive free installation of their Lifeline unit. For more information, please call (510) 869-8992 between 9:00 and 3:00, Monday through Friday.
