Laboratory Services

Alta Bates Summit Medical Center’s Laboratory Departments are California licensed and CAP (College of American Pathologists) Accredited, providing Alta Bates Summit's clinicians and patients with accurate, reliable, in-house testing 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our Laboratories are staffed with experienced, highly qualified, dedicated professionals including pathologists, California licensed clinical laboratory scientists, California certified phlebotomists and an experienced and competent management team. We are committed to outstanding test quality and customer service.

Clinical Laboratory Services include blood bank / transfusion services, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, serology, therapeutic drug monitoring, urinalysis and microbiology.

The department provides high quality diagnostic services for physicians and their patients, offering sophisticated methods for evaluating the full range of patient specimens, including blood and other fluids, tissue biopsies, surgical pathology, and cytology samples.

Outpatient Labs

Outpatient labs are conveniently located at each of our campuses. With a physician's order, patients can have specimens collected for outpatient diagnostic laboratory tests, including blood test and urinalysis.
