ON-CALL RECOVERY COUNSELOR I
Downtown Oakland
Thunder Road, a non-profit organization committed to the treatment of adolescents in recovery, seeks an On-Call Recovery Counselor I (hours are available immediately). The Recovery Counselor I provides support services designed to maintain or restore personal independence and functioning consistent with requirements for learning and development. The Recovery Counselor I will be providing support services to male and female adolescent communities.
Requirements: You must have a valid, Class C California Driver’s License, be able to pass an extensive background check, and have at least one year experience with youth development, chemical dependency and recovery principles.
This is an entry-level position.

PART-TIME PSYCHIATRIST I
Downtown Oakland
Thunder Road, a unique regional multi-disciplinary adolescent behavioral health care therapeutic community program, is seeking a committed part-time Psychiatrist to join our team to treat adolescents with alcohol, drug, and nicotine abuse and related behavioral, emotional and medical challenges. This is a independent contractor position within the only 50-bed dual licensed Group Home and Chemical Dependency Recovery Hospital for youth in California. Scheduling is flexible and can be adjusted to meet needs of the psychiatrist.
Primary duties include:
- Psychiatric evaluations of new clients
- Monitoring and prescribing psychiatric medications
- Consulting with staff about the psychiatric diagnosis and treatment of clients
- As part of a multi-disciplinary team, participate in the evaluation, rehabilitation, plan development, therapy, and collateral contacts regarding the delivery of services to clients
- Documenting psychiatric notes and evaluations
More information: Knowledge of 12 steps is preferred. Have a basic familiarity with the principles of recovery and addiction treatment and a demonstrated interest and aptitude in working with adolescents. CA medical license. Board eligible or certified in general psychiatry.

PER-DIEM NURSE
Downtown Oakland
Thunder Road, a unique regional multi-disciplinary adolescent behavioral health care therapeutic community program, is seeking a committed Nurse to join our team to support adolescents develop and maintain recovery plans and strategies to overcome alcohol, drug, and nicotine abuse and related behavioral, emotional and medical challenges. This is a non-exempt position within the only 50-bed dual licensed Group Home and Chemical Dependency Recovery Hospital for youth in California.
Primary duties include:
- Evaluate new clients, provide physical care and monitoring of clients
- Provide education and guidance to clients to improve general health and to assist clients and families in the management of illness and/or ongoing medical conditions
- As part of a multi-disciplinary team, participate in the evaluation, rehabilitation, plan development, therapy, and collateral contacts regarding the delivery of services to clients
- Performs counseling, treatment interventions, facilitation of groups, and professional duties such as facilitating groups, client monitoring duties, educational lectures, and outreach activities to clients, staff, and the community
- Documents nursing data on clients in their medical records
More information: Knowledge of 12 steps is preferred. Have a basic familiarity with the principles of recovery and addiction treatment and a demonstrated interest and aptitude in working with adolescents. Licensed RN, NP. Have a valid California Driver’s license.
