    Partners

    Thunder Road is the center of a recovery community with thousands of partners from diverse backgrounds that all share a common bond - to support youth and families to gain sobriety and maintain healthy relationships in our communities.

    Our partners include a variety of nonprofit agencies, private businesses, educational institutions, government entities and foundations. See some of our partners below.

    Alameda County Provider Network for Tobacco Dependence Treatment and Cessation

    The Alameda County Provider Network for Tobacco Dependence Treatment and Cessation is a special project based at Thunder Road, funded through contracts from Alameda County Public Health Department, Tobacco Control Program Tobacco Master Settlement Funds, and Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services. Thunder Road has participated as the lead agency for the Network since 1998.

    Under the leadership of Dr. Cathy McDonald and Project Manager Judy Gerard, this project provides clinical staff training and technical assistance to adult and adolescent treatment providers on how to effectively address and treat the deadly and addictive effects of tobacco and nicotine abuse.

    Project staff also develop and provide tobacco education and treatment resource materials, and publish a bi-annual newsletter. Check out our newsletter, Nicotine-Free News, and the list of available materials for the latest on smoking cessation efforts in Alameda County.

    Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services (ACBHCS)

    Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services provides mental health and substance abuse services for the people of Alameda County. Thunder Road is proud to partner with ACBHCS in providing residential, day treatment, and outpatient behavioral health services to the Alameda County community.     Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE)

    The Alameda County Office of Education's mission is to provide, promote, and support leadership and service to ensure the success of every child, in every school, every day. Teachers provide instruction in small classes, allowing for individualized attention in all of our schools. ACOE’s Character-Based Literacy (CBL) Program, a collaboration with Santa Clara University, is standards-based English/Language Arts instruction that emphasizes socially appropriate values and behaviors. ACOE partners with Thunder Road to provide educational services at the Thunder Road Community School. More information can be found at http://www.acoe.org External Site.

    Alta Bates Summit Medical Center/Sutter Health

    In December 1999, Thunder Road joined in the affiliation process between the hospital programs at Alta Bates and Summit Medical Center. As part of the Sutter Health Care System, we look forward to continuing to provide the highest quality of care for youth and families struggling with behavioral health conditions.     CARF

    The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitative Facilities (CARF) is a private, not-for-profit, organization that accredits programs and services on three continents in Adult Day Services, Assisted Living, Behavioral Health, Employment and Community Services and Medical Rehabilitation. CARF develops and maintains practical and relevant standards for quality of care for more than 13,000 programs.

    Thunder Road is a behavioral health care program that has been awarded the highest level of accreditation by CARF. In July 2002, Thunder Road was again granted the maximum three-year accreditation awarded by CARF, by demonstrating compliance with more than 1,250 nationally recognized standards in behavioral health care services.     Contra Costa County Alcohol and Other Drug Services

    The Alcohol and Other Drugs Services Division (AOD) System of Care is a planned, comprehensive approach for providing alcohol and other drug treatment and prevention services in Contra Costa County or for Contra Costa County residents. The continuum of care benefits consumers and providers by combining administrative and clinical services in an integrated, coordinated system. Thunder Road is proud be a partner in this network at we work with youth who reside in Contra Costa County.     Contra Costa County Mental Health Services

    Contra Costa Mental Health strives to create an effective, high quality integrated system to meet the needs of all residents of Contra Costa County. Conra Costa County Mental Health works together with those individuals with psychiatric conditions to provide hope, recovery and partnership. The Mental Health Division provides an array of opportunities for partners to work together in the spirit of hope toward recovery. Thunder Road is proud to partner with Contra Costa County Mental Health to provide day treatment and mental health services for adolescents whose home is in Contra Costa County.     MPI Chemical Dependency Treatment Services

    As a long-term partner with Summit Medical Center, we closely coordinate our adolescent services with MPI, the Medical Center's adult chemical dependency program. Since 1979, MPI Treatment Services has offered comprehensive chemical dependency services for Bay Area adults and their families.

    MPI provides all levels of care: detoxification, inpatient, residential, day treatment and both morning and afternoon outpatient programs. MPI Treatment Services has contracts with most insurance carriers and is able to work with patients who may wish to self-pay for treatment services. The Continuing Care Program and an active MPI Alumni Association provide a large support network essential for a successful and sustained individualized recovery plan.     San Francisco Dept. Of Public Health

    SFDPH is part of a system of care network for behavioral health care services that offers a full range of specialty Behavioral health services provided by a culturally diverse network of community Behavioral health programs, clinics and private psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists. Thunder Road is proud to partner if SFDPH to provide day treatment and mental health services to San Francisco adolescents participating in our programs.     United Way

    The United Way of the Bay Area recognizes and supports Thunder Road's commitment to substance abuse education, treatment and research. In 1995 - 1996, the United Way provided $98,000 to increase treatment services for underserved youth and families that missed all the safety nets and had no other means of accessing treatment.

    A United Way grant in 1997 helped Thunder Road assist nine Bay Area counties further development of "best practices" for the new emerging juvenile drug courts. In 1998 the United Way provided Thunder Road a three-year grant to fund a part-time position that has increased our outreach and education to youth, parents, teachers and professions about substance abuse. We continue to partner with the United Way through an opportunity to contribute to our programs. Your donations to Thunder Road can be made via the United Way designated giving program.
