Accessing Treatment
The Admissions Department is the first contact point for information about treatment at Thunder Road. Our counselors are available and knowledgeable about our programs, assessment process, and other addiction issues.
Call to set up an appointment for a free assessment, or to get information and referrals for other services, agencies, or 12-Step programs or meetings. Thunder Road wants to be of assistance to you as you seek help or treatment options.
Assessments
Thunder Road provides drug, alcohol and nicotine screening assessments, based on the guidelines of the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria. Assessments are designed to gain an understanding of the client’s substance use and behavioral health issues as well as their functioning at home, in school, and in their communities. Assessments typically last an hour and a half, and both clients and parents or guardians participate in the process.
Our staff will assist your family in evaluating a variety of dynamics, and then recommend a course of action or treatment. If our programs do not fit your needs, we will be glad to make referrals to other agencies or services. Thunder Road's commitment is to support youth and families in accessing treatment and gaining the skills necessary to maintain healthy lifestyles free from substance abuse.
Our assessment counselors are thoroughly trained in chemical dependency issues and are part of a multi -disciplinary team that includes licensed psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and other professional clinical staff.
Assessment appointments are offered during business hours Monday through Friday. Please contact our Admissions Department at (510) 653-5040 to set up an appointment.

Outreach Services
From time to time Thunder Road is invited to participate in panel discussions, school assemblies, or other educational and outreach opportunities. Often youth involved in one of our programs will accompany clinical staff to these events to share their story and what they have learned throughout their journey.
