    Short-Term Inpatient Program

Our short-term inpatient program is designed for youth between the ages of 13 and 18 who are involved in the habitual abuse of nicotine, alcohol or drugs and who may experience other co-occurring emotional and behavioral issues. The program goal is to provide a structured and 24-hour supervised time period, to interrupt the physical use of addictive substances while offering tools and strategies for clients to relearn behaviors and coping skills.

In addition to receiving a full compliment of assessments and a history and physical upon admission, clients attend weekly therapy groups, anger management, relapse prevention, 12-Step groups, and diversity and gender issue groups. Clients are also assigned a recovery counselor who oversees their course of treatment, and provides one-on-one sessions and multi-family groups. Psychiatric evaluation and services are provided as indicated. Treatment plans are individualized, and we ask that youth and families remain active in developing and maintaining their recovery plans.

Youth clients reside in a dorm setting, and families actively participate in the program at Thunder Road. Our continuing care program provides support for clients and families, typically for an additional nine to twelve months following the inpatient program.
