Cafeterias and Patient Food Services
Each campus at the medical center has it's own cafeteria to provide staff, physicians and visitors with a variety of warm and cold meal options, with meal specials that change weekly, and there are vending machines available during extended hours at the Providence Pavilion in Oakland.
Cafeteria Locations and Hours
Alta Bates Café
Location: Ground floor, Alta Bates Campus, Berkeley.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
(Closed for cleaning M-F, 2:30 – 3:00 p.m.)
Weekends and Holidays: 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Serving Hours:
Breakfast: 6:30 – 10:00 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Dinner: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
"Grab and Go" food items are available at all times during hours of operation.

Herrick Campus Bistro
Location: First floor, Herrick Campus, Berkeley.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Serving Hours:
Breakfast: 7:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Hours: Seven days a week, 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Serving Hours Monday through Friday:
Breakfast: 6:30 - 10:00 a.m. (Hot breakfast starts at 7:00 a.m.)
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Dinner: 4:00 - 7:30 p.m.
(Closed for cleaning M-F, 2:05 to 2:20 p.m.)
Serving Hours Weekends and Holidays:
Breakfast: 7:30 - 10:15 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Location: Ground floor, Providence Pavilion, Summit Campus, Oakland.
Hours: 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., seven days a week.
Offering vending machines with fresh, refrigerated food, sandwiches, fruits, salads, frozen entrees and beverage machines.

Food Services for Our Patients
Patient meal services are provided by our dieticians in accordance with your physician's instructions.
In some instances, diagnostic tests or other medical considerations will make it necessary for you to have a change in your diet or meal schedule. We'll let you know when your physician prescribes any modifications.
If you have special needs or preferences, please let your nurse know.
